United States Commission on Military History

The United States Commission on Military History (USCMH) provides an important link between American interests and military historians from other nations around the globe.

Composed of academic, public, and service historians, museum professionals, and other interested parties, the USCMH is the American representative to the International Commission of Military History (ICMH), an affiliated organization of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Together, the ICMH and its dozens of National Commissions are dedicated to the furthering and coordinating of military historical research throughout the world.

This dedicated global outreach of the USCMH puts its membership into contact with some of the leading professionals in military history worldwide and runs internal lectures and initiatives, while supporting scholarship through grants and the Collins Book Prize. USCMH members also have access to the many valuable benefits of the ICMH, including participation in its annual international congresses, and access to its International Journal of Military History (since 1978), its International Review of Military History (since 1939), and its Newsletter (since 2003).

New members are welcome.
